Catherine studied Music at the University of Leeds and the Franz Liszt Hochschule in Weimar, Germany, graduating from RAM Opera with the Vice Principal’s prize. Roles have included Suzuki inMadamButterfly at the RAH, Ottavia/L'Incoronazione di Poppea for Opera North, Dido at the Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Lucretia in Rape of Lucretia, Hansel in Hansel & Greteland the roles of Mum/Mad Hatter in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for Opera Holland Park. In concert, her performances have included The Page in Salome at the Verbier Festival for Leonard Slatkin, a tour of Australia of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio conducted by Richard Tognetti,Handel’s Messiah in Budapest with the King’s Consort also in Madrid with Miguel Angel Gomez Martinez and with the Halle Orchestra under Laurence Cummings. A committed recitalist, she has worked regularly with pianists such as Joseph Middleton and James Bailieu, performing at the Wigmore Hall, the Oxford Lieder Festival, the Cheltenham Festival and at King’s Place. Most recently she gave critically acclaimed performances of Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare for both Bury Court Opera and Opera North, conducted by Christian Curnyn.
