Daniel Shao is a British/Chinese flautist. He studied at the Purcell School, Oxford University, and RAM, and now performs in a range of different contexts. He is currently Associate member with the Philharmonia, and has performed with the LSO, CBSO, and EUYO. He won the British Flute Society Young Artist prize, and was recently a finalist in the Euroflute international competition. His group Tangram explores music-making of the Chinese diaspora, collaborating with a wide range of composers and interdisciplinary artists, recently winning Sound and Music’s George Butterworth Prize. He loves yoga, and wholeheartedly supports the work of Help Musicians UK!
