A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Louise Kemény is a former Britten-Pears Young Artist, Independent Opera Fellow and Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians. In 2018/19, she joined the ensemble at Theater Bonn, where roles so far have included Romilda/Xerxes, Pamina/Die Zauberflöte and Gretel/Hänsel und Gretel. She is passionate about the creation and interpretation of new music and has created three lead roles in new operas – Woman/Unknown Position and Girl/Bonesong (Kate Whitley), and Wife/Nauset (Joel Rust) – to critical acclaim. Concert highlights include Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, both with the Sinfonieorchester Basel, Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium with Concerto Köln, and Bach’s Matthäus-Passion with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
